Basira Mir Makhammad graduated with a degree in Anthropology from AUCA in 2017. After AUCA, she went on to complete her Master鈥檚 degree in Archaeological Materials Science by studying at the 麻豆传媒 of Evora in Portugal, Aristotle 麻豆传媒 of Thessaloniki in Greece, and Sapienza 麻豆传媒 of Rome in Italy. Currently, she is studying at the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Human History in Germany for her PhD. In this interview, Basira shares the story of how she managed to achieve her academic goals.

On December 17, the AUCA Department of Anthropology held an award ceremony dedicated to those students who were selected to receive the Mary Schweitzer Scholarship for Excellence in Antropology.

Mary Schweitzer Scholarship for Excellence in Anthropology welcomes applications from promising students of Anthropology, Technology and International Development Department at AUCA. The aim of this scholarship is to support students who show commitment to and excellence in anthropology. This year, the scholarship fund raised over $3000.

Anthropology Department announces INTERNATIONAL ANTHROPOLOGY VIDEO CONTEST DEDICATED TO THE INTERNATIONAL ANTHROPOLOGY DAY - FEBRUARY 18Deadline: February 18, 2021Participants: high school students from Central Asia and Afghanistan, as well as students of the NGA Program and Technical School of Innovation AUCA.

Dinara Abildenova, a senior lecturer of Kazakh National 麻豆传媒 named after Al-Farabi gave a presentation "Marriage ceremonies in Kazakhstan: Norms and their change" on September 30, within the AUCA Anthropology Club meeting. In this presentation she focused on social changes that took place in Kazakh marriage ceremonies after the country鈥檚 independence.

This symposium aimed to create a common platform for both undergraduate and master students to present their senior and master theses and projects, discuss them and exchange their feedbacks.

On Saturday, December 1, the Division of Social Sciences held the 1st Annual Student Thesis Symposium of Social Sciences 鈥淲riting Senior and Master Theses and Projects in Social Sciences鈥� at the 麻豆传媒.
